Hello and welcome! My name is Nadia and I am the author of Keep Calm and Mom On. The intention of starting this blog was always to cut moms some slack and to help new moms with some of the lessons that I learned along the way.
As a self-employed mom of two little ones (one aged seven and one aged one) I have my hands full with planning, feeding, cleaning and working (and working in some me-time along the way). No jokes, without our loyal nanny and my darling hubby I don’t think we would have made it to this point.
When my son was born in 2009, hubby and I had a rough time deciphering all the literature and deciding on what works for us. We turned to the usual “guides” including Gena Ford and “What to Expect” and had a rude awakening after we figured that they were not manuals for our baby but rather a never-ending book of milestones that did, or did not correspond to our child. The day we decided to chuck the book and trust our instincts things finally started to fall in place.
So after baby number two (our little baby girl), I decided to put “pen to paper” and pass on some of the nifty tricks we picked up along the way.
I have heard it so many times, couples that are waiting for the “right time” or saving so that they have “enough money for kids” – both being misnomers in their own right. I then began to pick up more tips on living a little more frugally and saving money for more important things (like fun weekends away or special family trips). This blog thus also includes posts on fun things to do with the kids or as a family without breaking the bank.
I invite you to sign up for our weekly tips for moms and to share your views and questions in the comments sections on all the posts. Thank you for reading and I hope to talk to you all soon!
